Video: tUnE-yArDs break down their songs for Sound Opinions

At South by Southwest this year our colleagues at Sound Opinions were wowed by Merrill Garbus' band, tUnE-yArDs. It's easy to see why: The African-influenced funk on her latest album, w h o k i l l, is catchy enough to make curmudgeons overlook her eccentric typesetting and get down on the dance floor.
Sound Opinions was so keen on tUnE-yArDs that they invited Garbus and her band in for a session the next time they passed through Chicago. There, Garbus and company performed four songs from w h o k i l l and deconstructed their live-sampling magic.
Garbus returns to Chicago Friday to perform at the Pitchfork Music Festival.
